Book Check Out Policies
Students visit the media center with their classes every for 45 minutes. During this class time, we will work on various information literacy skills, including finding and reading books for pleasure, accessing Web 2.0 sites, typing and keyboarding skills, and much more! Students will always have time to check out and return books and to spend some time on technology projects. Classroom teachers are an integral part of all media center classes; the class contents are tailored to what students are learning in their homerooms.
Students may have up to THREE books checked out at any time. Books are due in THREE weeks and may be renewed. If a student, however, needs additional resources to complete a school project, exceptions to the three bookt/three weeks policy may be made at the discretion of Mrs. Creek.
If a student loses a book or a book becomes damaged, he/she should see Mrs. Creek to discuss options. Often "lost" books have a way of eventually turning up, even at our local public libraries. Lost books are not assessed fines until/unless the book is still missing at the end of the school year. A maximum fine of $5.00 is assessed for a lost book, no matter what the original cost of the materials were. If a "lost" books turns up over the summer, please just bring it to Mrs. Creek and a full refund of the fine will be issued.
Damaged books might incur a fee, depending on the age/condition of the book prior to the student's use. Again, students should see Mrs. Creek to determine if a fee will need to be assessed.
